Ecstasy And Other Hallucinogen Drug Abuse

Hallucinogens like Ecstasy are an increasingly popular drugs, especially at parties and raves. These drugs are usually taken to cause hallucinations and a feeling of euphoria. contrary to what some people believe, they can be as dangerous and addictive as harder "stronger" drugs.

MDMA, also known as Ecstasy or XTC, is an amphetamine which affects the serotonin pathway in the brain. serotonin is a neurotransmitter that regulates moods, emotions, appetite, sleep, anxiety, memory, and perceptions. This effect commonly results in hallucinations and an overall good mood, but can also cause harmful effects like inability to sleep or blacking out.

Many People who take this drug take it socially at parties called raves. These parties usually have  colorful lights and music that are meant to stimulate hallucinations. Use of ecstasy is also common at certain night clubs or rock concerts. Be careful at these areas because sometimes people spike the drinks with this drug, causing people to take it unintentionally.

Ecstasy can also be very harmful for your health. It can cause nausea, chills, blurred vision, and muscle cramps. It is also possible to experience what is referred to as a "bad trip" in which you have a particularly frightening hallucination. This coupled with  comprised emotional control an be especially terrifying.

Abusing hallucinogens over a long period of time can be especially dangerous dangerous. It can lead to symptoms similar to an addiction to stimulates as well as depression, confusion, sleep problems, anxiety, and a craving for the drug.

Ecstasy can also lead to death. This is mostly from it interfering with the bodies ability to regulate temperature, but can also be caused by the hallucinations. It is not unheard of for someone to ,as an example, dive into an empty pool after hallucinating that it was full of water.
