Getting Caught With Marijuana May Cost You Your Life

Although marijuana has been made legal for medical purposes in some US states, it is still illegal to have it for non-medical reasons, and many countries still take a strict stand on possession. Europe, as with the USA, tends to only take legal proceedings against people who are the dealers. That means if a person is caught with just a joint, then they will either get a warning, or a fine. If they are found with an amount of weed that is not regarded as personal usage, then they will be prosecuted. Jail sentences vary in the West, but they are not usually as long as people who are convicted of supplying drugs such as heroin.

One thing about all drugs that is the same, is that the demand must be fed. This means that drugs need to be brought into a country in one way or another. In most cases, drugs are sent via mail, and it is up to customs to try and find them. Although they often use drug dogs these days, the suppliers are very clever at hiding drug scent, and so the majority of deliveries get through to the recipient.

Another way is to use drug mules. These are people that are only paid to take drugs from one country to another. If they get caught, then the supplier is not worried. Drug mules are only doing it for the money, and many do not seem to understand the risks of getting caught. As the amount of weed that they carry is obviously to be sold, it comes with severe sentences if they are caught. None more so with countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia who have the death penalty. Many people have got into serious trouble for being a drug courier, and the best advice is not to do it.
